Lovepedal geht es nicht um neue generische Nachbildungen von bestehenden Effekten. Vielmehr will Sean einen ganz bestimmten Sound erzielen und trifft immer ins Schwarze. Dieses Pedal emuliert den Klang eines aufgedrehten Tweed Twin und es macht dabei einen tollen Job!
Das Pedal hat zwei Knöpfe und ein Drei-Position-Kippschalter. Der Kippschalter wirkt wie eine triple Klangregelung. In der Mittelstellung sind die Höhen am meisten betont. In der mittleren Position sind Höhen etwas gedämpft und in der linken Position sind die Höhen sogar noch mehr abgeschwächt. Diese Regelung dient bestens dazu, den Sound auf Single Coils oder Humbucker abzustimmen.

The basic pedal has two knobs and a three-position toggle switch. The case is a beautiful gold powder coat finished unit. The on—off switch is the signature silent Lovepedal soft switch—silent and perfect.
Diving into the controls, we have an overall gain control on the left and a saturation control on the right knob. Even at minimum saturation, the pedal is adding grit and sustain to the sound. At about 3/4, the saturation knob starts to really kick in, adding overtones and overdrive. At about 9 o’clock, the gain control is at approximately unity gain. From there, it goes up a few DB, adding some complex saturation.
The three-position toggle switch acts like a triple tone control. In center position, highs are brightest. In the right position, highs are somewhat attenuated and in the left position, the highs are attenuated even more. All this helps the user dial in the right degree of saturation, depending on whether the guitar is using single coils or humbuckers.
Most players would call this tone “crunch”. Its not high gain—it’s just slightly overdriven with a unique edge, but with the unique Tweed character found in the old amps. It is great for that crunchy, attitude-driven rhythm sound and for the Tweed amp cranked up lead sound that has dirt but still retains clarity.

Having lived with this pedal for a couple of weeks, running it through its paces, I am reluctant to return it! It does what no other overdrive I know of can do. It hits a unique and specific tonal target and it does it in spades. It doesn’t sound like anything else on the market that I know of. But then, that seems to be the modus operandi of Lovepedal—filling in the needed gaps that other pedal manufacturers ignore. Kudos to Sean and to Lovepedal for riding the cutting edge and for having the ears to tune their wares in a highly musical and usable way. The High Power Twin pedal is one more example of why Lovepedal remains unique in an industry overcrowded with imitators. This, my friends, is the real deal.
