Those of us who have been in the pedal game a while remember Ibanez for its extensive pedal lines. Before the Tube Screamer and a select few others became staples of the Ibanez catalog, they were part of a larger series known as the "9 series." Other lines existed, such as the "0 series," and outside of a few survivors (TS-808), the line is merely an Ibanez footnote.
Recognizing the greatness of these two series, Ibanez has decided to reissue a handful of them in the ever-popular mini format. These new models feature the same curvy Ibanez aesthetic with no tonal compromises.
The new Mini Chorus is one such pedal. The original's high collectibility and premium tone made it a no-brainer for reissue. Drawing from the classic CS-505 Chorus, this miniature model is all analog and gives you rich, lush chorus tones through two classic controls: Speed and Depth.
A wide array of tones can be accomplished from just these two knobs, from classic studio double-tracking to deep movement like The Cure or Modern English. There's no fussing about, since the two knobs sound great at any position, unlike many choruses. The sweet spots are plentiful.
And thanks to its diminutive stature, players on the fence due to real estate concerns can take comfort knowing that the Mini Chorus can be squeezed into even the tightest arrangement—a boon to the chorus-curious.
