Mr. Black Dark Echo V2
In 2008, Jack Deville released the Dark Echo, and in a world of boutique delays, Jack's Echo certainly stood apart from the pack. Its rich, organic repeats and modulation were second to none. Upon its discontinuation, tone chasers the world over clamored to buy up all remaining stock.?
Now, under the Mr. Black name, Jack's Dark Echo triumphantly returns. And it's back with a vengeance. The only issue from the original—the noise floor—has been lowered. With this revision, another "non-issue" has been rectified as well: the intensity of the Sway control. Now, with the turn of the Sway knob, the limit of the original Dark Echo Sway is realized much earlier in the sweep, for fully blissed-out modulated goodness.
If you're not familiar with the original Dark Echo, it's a beautiful, organic sounding delay. The Sway knob is actually a Jack Deville original, this part of the circuit can only be found in Mr. Black products. And you know Jack doesn't skimp on his features.
The Dark Echo features 450ms of delay time, and a nifty slapback "mode." Sometimes dialing in a slapback is difficult, but the Dark Echo makes it easy: turning the Repeats knob fully counter-clockwise yields one solitary repeat. Then, the time can be adjusted to taste. It's as easy as dialing in a slapback has ever been.
The Dark Echo is hand-made, one at a time, in "south-easy" Portland, Oregon. It is wired for true bypass and accepts a 9v, center-negative Boss-style adapter, or a battery. The current draw is less than 30mA, so it's ready for all isolated power supplies.
